  • Does not filter water, may require the use of a coffee filter or cloth to remove debris from water (may not be a problem, depending on your water source)
  • Does purify water well in the presence of sediment (it is not designed to). Again may not be a problem, depending on your water source/where you are traveling.
  • Takes 90 seconds to purify 1 litre of water (slower than some methods)
  • Will to remove any funny taste or foul odor from water (may not be a problem, depending on your water source)
  • Due to the size of this SteriPEN you will need to carry a water container that is large enough for you to stick the pen in to (and to undertake a little stirring).
  • Requires batteries

How does this model compare to other SteriPENs?

The Adventure Opti is the second smallest and second lightest in the SteriPEN range of models. The Freedom model is both smaller and lighter than the Adventure Opti, but is also more expensive.

Tips On How To Use

  • You should consider taking some water-purification tablets as a backup purification option, in case this device fails. The tablets are very small, lightweight and cheap – so should not hinder your travels.
  • If you are taking this device into the wilderness for an extended period, you should take along an extra pair of batteries
  • PLEASE NOTE: This device does not filter chemicals, salt, heavy metals.
